WIP 12.6.19

Just got the background colors laid down for the last two commissions I gotta get done for Christmas. A lot of bummer things have happened in the last 2 weeks as well as some wonderful things. The art abides.

When I was laying down the yellow my usual container wasn’t quite able to contain the size of this particular canvas. My usual solution was locked up in a shed where I don’t currently know the whereabouts of the key, so I had to brainstorm. I went rummaging through some of the cardboard boxes I have in the garage and realized I had an extra 36×48 canvas sitting inside one of them. The reason I had forgotten about it was it had a big ol’ gash right in the middle of it. It was pretty disheartening when it arrived like that some time ago. Ive decided I’m going to work on it anyways and somehow work the gash into the piece. I’ll just let it slowly accumulate paint until the scene comes into my brain, sort of like an old favorite piece of mine titled “RE:purpose”.

Worse comes to worse, I can always jam a banana in the hole and secure it with duct-tape. That way I can sell it for $120,000 at Art Basel Miami.
